Official 2009 Big Hammer Challenge-Reports,Pics-Leaderboard

My buddy Albert and I got to the keys last Thursday night to set up for the Rene Memorial and saw Jd and Aaron fishing a local beach .Nothing much was happening while we hung out with them but a short while after leaving we had to rush back to the beach because Aaron phoned that Jimbo was on.I took these two pics of them with a tipper. The shark action in keys even with fresh cudas for bait has been real spotty.Jd and Aaron spent 5 or 6 days straight fishing the bridges with very few sharks to show for the Grand effort.I personally think that the front that started to blow through last Tuesday with very strong winds lowered the water temp by a few degrees and turned the sharks off.I had not noticed until I went in the water Sunday afternoon and realized it was too cold for mid-April.Stay tuned though because a couple of days of mild winds and hot tempatures will have the BIG BULLS (400 lbs plus)in and feeding strong and right along with them the BIG HAMMERS tearing up the tarpon.Like seaweed (Shannon )said anything can happen in April
Jd's blacktip 5 foot 3 inch

SECOND WEEK TOTALS
Tommorow we will post the totals for the third week of fishing April 15th -April 21 st.
Sorry for the delay in posting the table;it's been a tough week to say the least.
This year the Awards Ceremony will be held at John U Lloyd State Park on HOLLYWOOD beach on Sunday May 3 rd 2009 starting at 12 noon and ending at 6 .The reservation has been made for the Pelican Pavillion which is the second closest to the Inlet. Here is a map of the State park which indicates the easiest way to get to the park and the pavillion.
The past week of fishing was hampered by the high surf and the cooler water temps but we are hoping to have better weather for the last week of competion.Go out there and CATCH A MONSTER but please be SAFE.
